On this day (January 10th) in 1981 Merle Haggard hits the top of the charts with the song "I Think I'll Just Stay Here And Drink." Merle penned the song one evening after a friend asked him to come over to his house for the evening, and Merle's reply was "no thanks, I think I'll just stay here and drink." And the rest is history. I couldn't find a good video of the song, so here's Merle singing "Ramblin' Fever" on Pop Goes Country.
